Washington County stretches south of Pittsburgh across some of the most beautiful rolling farmland in Western Pennsylvania. The county has a split character: the northern townships near Peters Township and Canonsburg are increasingly suburban, with residential development pushing into former farmland. But the central and southern parts of the county — around Washington city, Charleroi, Monongahela, and the rural townships — remain genuinely agricultural, with horse farms, cattle operations, and large rural properties that have been worked for generations. The land clearing work in Washington County reflects that split. In the northern townships, we do a lot of residential lot clearing and brush removal on larger suburban properties — Peters Township and Cecil Township have significant wooded acreage on residential lots. In the central and southern parts of the county, it's primarily agricultural: farm fence line clearing, pasture reclamation, and rural property cleanup. The invasive species situation here is similar to the rest of Western PA: multiflora rose is pervasive, autumn olive is common on field edges and fence lines, and Japanese knotweed is a problem along the Monongahela River and its tributaries.
